Here is some bad news for Californians who were hoping to play Bitcoin poker legally. The latest attempt to legalize and regulate online poker in California has died on the state’s Assembly floor. It had started out well, managing to jump over hurdles that stopped previous attempts at legalization.
However, political infighting managed to put a spoke in its gears, with opposing factions fighting over whether PokerStars and other online poker rooms—including Bitcoin poker rooms—should be allowed to operate in California or should be banned. This stalled any attempts at forming a coalition and stopped the online poker bill in its tracks.
